Television is one of the most evolved and ever changing forms of technology ever fashioned. At one time televisions had limited stations, were bulky in size and weight, and could only project programs in black and white. Some models even had to be turned on five to ten minutes prior to use in order for them to ‘warm up’.
As technology advanced so did the manner in which people watched television and also in the manner in which they could control their televisions and programming. In fact, television has advanced to the point where you can now dictate when you watch your favorite programs by allowing you to actually record all your favorite shows so that you never miss them.
Televisions have all went digital. The majority of televisions now only pick up digital signals, and in the United States the government passed a bill in which all televisions have to be converted to digital television and analog receivers will no longer receive stations beginning in 2009.
The size of televisions has changed drastically. As technology advanced the size of televisions shrunk when it came to overall size. They no longer contain thousands of internal parts that require them to appear bulky. You can now purchase televisions that are known as ‘flat screens’ that actually are the size and width of picture frames.
Additionally, the quality of digital televisions is absolutely amazing. Digital televisions are now clear and feature brilliant colors and are free from pixilation. In fact, the quality of picture and sound continues to improve and advance each and every year.
Another exciting advancement in the future of digital television is what researchers are calling: Schedule Creating. In the near future it is believed that all television networks and stations will make their entire weeks programs available at the start of the week, apart from shows that are broadcast LIVE. This will allow anyone to simply build and create their own viewing schedule without having to wait for a specific day and time for their television show to come on.
It is also believed that this will allow networks to fully have access to information that will show them which shows are being viewed and which ones are not. This will allow them to make better decisions when it comes to the cancellation of television programs.
